Foreign Tourists in Awe of Vietnam’s “Đi Bão”

“I’ve never witnessed such a vibrant and exhilarating atmosphere!” – That is the sentiment shared by many international visitors as they marveled at the fervent “Đi Bão” victory parade spirit of the Vietnamese people following their historic triumph at the AFF Cup 2024.

On the night of January 5th, the heart of Hanoi transformed into a “sea of people” as hundreds of thousands of jubilant supporters gathered at Hoan Kiem Lake and West Lake to celebrate the Vietnam national football team’s championship win after a spectacular victory over Thailand in the final. This triumph, not only a source of national pride for Vietnam, has become a grand celebration, overflowing with emotion on every corner of the city.

For international tourists, the experience of this jubilant celebration in Vietnam was something truly extraordinary. Luke Forrester, a British tourist, was visibly moved as he joined the sea of passionate supporters. “I’m so fortunate to be visiting Vietnam at this moment. The cheering, the waving of red flags with gold stars, and the electric atmosphere left me deeply touched,” he expressed.

Luke, along with his friends, donned the national team’s jersey, waving flags and enthusiastically high-fiving fellow celebrants. “The honking of horns, the chants of victory, and the infectious joy that filled the streets made me feel a profound sense of connection to this celebration,” he remarked.

Chiara Petre, a tourist from Germany who was visiting Vietnam for the first time, watched the match at Bui Vien pedestrian street and could not hide his admiration. “The atmosphere here is simply amazing. I supported Vietnam, and when the team won, the collective elation was overwhelming,” he shared. The sight of streets awash in red and yellow, the sound of horns blaring, and the ceaseless joy of the crowd left an indelible impression on him.
